Responsibilities
Work independently or as part of a team to prepare estimates and budgets.
Perform preliminary and detailed quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications using assembly-based on-screen takeoff software.
Prepare quantity take-offs for conceptual, design-build, construction management, or general tender projects.
Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work.
Prepare tender packages for subcontractor bidding.
Liaise with subcontractors for bid requests, questions, and follow-ups.
Review subcontractors’ tenders and prepare preliminary analyses for review.
Evaluate design options and recommend the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or material available.
Assist project management teams with subcontractor awards, quantity analysis, and change orders
Requirements
Successful completion of a Civil or Construction Engineering Management diploma or equivalent; or a minimum of 1-3 years of related construction estimating experience, preferably with general contractors.
Strong computer skills, particularly in MS Excel and Excel formulas
Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
Capable of accurately preparing a variety of quantity take-offs across all CSI (Construction Specifications Institute) divisions of work
Excellent organizational, time management, and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Ability to work under tight deadlines
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong analytical skills
Experience with onscreen takeoff software
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Possess reliable transportation for travel to the Toronto Head Office or jobsites located throughout the GTA, as needed.
