About the role
- Field Advisor & Placement Coordinator overseeing MSW field placements at Laurier University. Supporting students, recruiting placements, and ensuring alignment with educational objectives.
Responsibilities
- Oversee field placement cohorts and courses
- Demonstrate a student-centered approach in facilitating students’ needs
- Plan and coordinate the field preparation of incoming and current students
- Support students throughout the field placement process
- Act as the direct contact person from the Faculty of Social Work for assigned students
- Educate and prepare students regarding expectations, goals, assessment, and protocols
- Coordinate site visits with agencies and students
- Review and approve student performance evaluation documents
- Research, evaluate, and recruit MSW field placements
- Collaborate with the field team for strategic partnerships with agencies
- Lead the field preparation seminar course
- Monitor placements to meet expectations and requirements
Requirements
- MSW required
- Minimum three years of related social work experience
- Minimum two years of administrative/coordination experience
- Experience with post-secondary field programs an asset
- Practical knowledge of social work programs and practice in various social service systems
- Superior leadership, conflict resolution, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Ability to interact effectively with BIPOC clients/students and individuals from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences
- Strong ability to utilize and learn technology for ongoing field development
- Advanced computer skills in MS Office, email, webinars, databases, online portals, web-based tools, etc.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a car
