About the role

  • CBC Radio scheduling producer preparing overnight programming, promos, and SiriusXM content. Editing, packaging, logging, and distributing audio through broadcast systems.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare content for Radio One’s overnight schedule
  • Retrieve, audition, edit, and package content for the CBC broadcast clock
  • Vet content against CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices
  • Push programs to CBC Master Control
  • Edit and mix multitrack audio in Dalet
  • Create WideOrbit codes and use VML, FTP audio sharing, Aspera, and Google Workspace
  • Log and distribute music reports
  • Train new team members
  • Maintain content and music logs using CBC’s Virtual Music Library and iNews
  • Support production of Radio One promos, continuous content for Radio One’s SiriusXM channel, and the Radio Distribution portfolio
  • Perform production and administrative tasks supporting smooth department operations
  • Coordinate the work of others when required
  • Exercise independent judgment, analysis, and decision-making within complex parameters

Requirements

  • University degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience with exposure to journalism, computers, and radio or television broadcasting technology
  • Advanced proficiency in Dalet
  • Demonstrated ability to execute seamless, natural-sounding interview edits
  • Experience organizing and managing high-volume daily audio workflows
  • Experience producing promotional radio material or continuous programming for Radio One’s SiriusXM channel (a plus)
  • Ability to independently diagnose and resolve operational or technical challenges
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Passion for CBC radio and audio content
  • Sensitivity to different cultures, diversity, and inclusion
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Interest in radio and audio programming and development
  • Understanding of the CBC brand and mandate
  • Knowledge of industry trends and programming and scheduling best practices
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams
  • Good spoken and written communication
  • Ability to take initiative and work autonomously
  • Ability to work beyond normal office hours as project dictates
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and make quick decisions under pressure
