About the role

  • Android Senior Developer working on CBC/Radio-Canada's OTT Team, ensuring smooth execution of product front-end development. Collaborating with product owners and technical managers to deliver quality digital experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Design and/or modify reusable components for CBC/Radio‑Canada’s digital platforms, such as the audio/video player.
  • Ensure compliance with standards and maintain product quality throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Stay up to date on new trends across digital development fields.
  • Proactively propose solutions to technical and product challenges.
  • Participate in Agile Scrum activities to review ongoing production work for corrections and adjustments, and to evaluate completed projects.
  • Contribute to writing user stories for our products.
  • Ensure developed applications perform well under high load.
  • Take part in sprint planning, retrospectives, and application deployments.
  • Participate in code reviews and solution deployments.

Requirements

  • University degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in software development.
  • Experience building complex, high‑performance mobile applications.
  • Proficient with Android Studio, Git, and the Kotlin language.
  • Experience releasing an app to Google Play.
  • Experience working with code review processes (pull requests).
  • Familiarity with architectural patterns (e.g., MVP, MVVM).
  • Knowledge of SOLID principles is an asset.
  • Ability to read, create, and follow software architecture diagrams (UML, sequence diagrams, etc.).
  • Interest in developing applications for multiple form factors (mobile/tablet/TV).
  • Knowledge of Jetpack Compose, ExoPlayer, and Kotlin Multiplatform is an asset.
  • Familiarity with dependency injection libraries (Dagger, Hilt, Koin) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Google Architecture Components is an asset.
  • Experience with Maven (including designing/maintaining internal libraries) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of web audio-video broadcasting/streaming is an asset.
  • Experience with other programming languages is an asset.
  • Good understanding of design patterns is an asset.
  • Strong general knowledge and intellectual curiosity to acquire and develop new skills.
  • Critical thinking to question assumptions and propose improvements.
  • Keen interest in major trends and challenges in the digital space.
  • Meticulous, independent, and resourceful.
  • Excellent stress management and ability to set priorities.

  • Bilingual (English and French), both spoken and written, is mandatory.
