Senior Remote Area Transmitter Technologist responsible for installing and maintaining transmission equipment at CBC in Cornerbrook. Working on satellite systems and providing technical support as needed.
Responsibilities
Installing, troubleshooting, and modifying transmission equipment, satellite communication systems, and facilities ensuring their proper operating condition.
Aligning, testing and configuring equipment and systems, including the related software, in order to obtain and confirm optimal performance or to identify existing or potential problems.
Performing and documenting repairs and regular preventive maintenance procedures according to established procedures and corporate standards.
Developing and assisting in the development of quality control procedures, preparing and correcting documents, schematics, functional drawings, specification tables and layout diagrams.
Contacting suppliers for equipment, services or advice, and operating motor vehicles.
Guiding the development and assisting in the training of other employees, as well as contributing ideas and making recommendations to overcome problems or achieve desired results.
Troubleshooting and maintaining other equipment associated with remote transmitter sites as required.
Maintaining complete transmitter sites including buildings, grounds and roads; traveling to remote locations under short notice and difficult conditions and working on satellite dishes.
Requirements
Must possess at least a two (2) year Post-Secondary technologist diploma from a recognized college in an appropriate discipline or its equivalent as determined by the Corporation.
Requires overall general knowledge regarding maintenance of equipment, systems and relevant software technologies.
Must possess a valid driver's license as well as a driving record that meets the minimum requirements of CBC/Radio-Canada's insurance company.
Must be able to travel and to work alone at remote locations under difficult conditions.
Must be able to meet the identified physical requirements of the position.
