About the role

  • Senior engineer evaluating and integrating utility-scale energy storage, inverters, EMS, and power systems. Supporting Canadian Solar’s solar and energy-storage solutions through technical due diligence and validation.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical due diligence on inverter, EMS, MVT, and related power-system products
  • Develop and maintain internal tools for system sizing, product design, project development, and opportunity evaluation
  • Support design development, interface definition, validation testing, and platform roadmap alignment for internally developed products
  • Evaluate technical specifications, drawings, certifications, test reports, performance claims, and integration requirements for externally sourced products
  • Support Independent Engineer reviews and customer-led technical due diligence
  • Monitor product standards, grid codes, electrical requirements, and communication protocols
  • Oversee engineering tools for system modeling, product validation, and solution optimization
  • Lead technical reviews of inverter, EMS, MVT, gas turbine, and related electrical products
  • Define and review electrical interfaces across batteries, BMS, EMS, MVT, switchgear, auxiliary systems, and grid connections
  • Coordinate product introductions and cross-functional communication
  • Maintain vendor/product documentation, evaluations, and platform status
  • Coordinate supplier and product workstreams and document dependencies and deliverables
  • Participate in integration testing across inverter, battery, BMS, EMS, MVT, auxiliary systems, and electrical equipment
  • Troubleshoot control strategies and support platform optimization
  • Provide technical input for project-specific requirements and custom configurations
  • Develop internal documentation, reference templates, and knowledge-sharing tools
  • Collaborate with global R&D and applications engineering teams
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, power systems, controls engineering, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering, R&D, or project commissioning within power electronics, energy storage, microgrids, power generation, or related industries
  • Direct experience in inverter product development, control systems, or energy storage project commissioning strongly preferred
  • Strong general electrical-system knowledge, including power systems, power electronics, inverters, plant-level controls, transformers, medium-voltage equipment, protection, and system integration
  • Experience with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and microgrid applications
  • Experience with medium-voltage transformers and associated MV equipment
  • Knowledge of gas turbine systems preferred
  • Familiarity with UL, IEEE, IEC, medium-voltage equipment, and grid-interconnection requirements
  • Experience collaborating with international partners across global time zones
  • Ability to lead or contribute to internal engineering tools, system models, or automation processes
  • Strong technical, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
  • Proficiency in Mandarin is a plus but not required
