About the role
- Lead Process Engineer specializing in carbon dioxide removal technologies. Focused on design, technology integration, and facility optimization in Canada.
Responsibilities
- Process Design: Lead conceptual and detailed design, including Heat and Material Balances (H&MB) and Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs).
- Instrumentation: Develop and refine P&IDs, ensuring robust control logic and safety standards (HAZOP/LOPA).
- Simulation: Perform advanced process simulations (Aspen Plus, HYSYS) to optimize energy consumption—a critical metric for DAC viability.
- Technology Selection: Drive selection for key components like contactors, regeneration units, and moisture/heat management systems.
- Risk Mitigation: Assess technical risks related to solvent/sorbent degradation and environmental impacts on capture efficiency.
Requirements
- Experience: 10+ years in engineering, with significant time in process design within the energy, chemicals, or gas processing industries.
- Education: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related field.
- Certification: Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng / ing.) with a Canadian engineering association.
- Software: Expert-level experience with process simulation tools (Aspen Plus, HYSYS, PRO/II).
- Language: English is required.
