About the role

  • Reliability engineer focused on enhancing electrical equipment reliability and program efficiency at Domtar's Windsor plant. Involves troubleshooting, optimization, and adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Reliability Superintendent, you will act as an electrical reliability engineer with a mandate to improve the reliability of electrical equipment and increase the reliability of PLC programs and control loops;
  • Assist with the implementation and updating of the planned maintenance management system for high-, medium- and low-voltage electrical equipment, preventive maintenance, condition monitoring, and electrical reliability improvement;
  • Process optimization: improve equipment reliability and productivity, modify/innovate to reduce maintenance downtime, and develop/improve communication tools for maintenance and operations teams;
  • Analyze and develop solutions to recurring problems (troubleshooting);
  • Analyze performance deviations and propose innovative solutions while providing rapid troubleshooting via PLCs or diagnostic screens;
  • Optimize, develop and implement control and programming strategies for equipment (program reliability and performance, and improvement of program cycle times);
  • Support maintenance and reliability teams in implementing and monitoring electrical reliability best practices and participate in equipment failure investigations (RCPE) and in the development of maintenance strategies (ASD);
  • Ensure that all activities comply with applicable standards, policies and regulations regarding health and safety, environment, quality and responsible management;

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Automation;
  • Recent graduates are welcome or candidates may have a few years of relevant experience;
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance of electrical distribution networks as well as variable speed drives (AC, DC), control systems (PLC, DCS), operator interfaces (HMI) and communication networks;
  • P.Eng. designation or membership with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
  • Customer-focused, proactive and a strong team player;
  • Results-oriented;
  • Energetic and autonomous, enjoys teamwork and demonstrates leadership and a strong sense of responsibility;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Able to learn and adapt quickly in a constantly changing environment.
