About the role
- Software Engineer building backend AI platform systems for DraftKings’ sports entertainment and gaming technology. Developing retrieval, vector database, automation, and agent infrastructure for scalable AI applications.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend systems, APIs, and automation workflows powering AI-driven applications
- Develop custom integrations and connectors between internal services and external APIs
- Build and operate enterprise knowledge systems including similarity search, vector databases, and retrieval pipelines
- Improve reliability, performance, and scalability of automation and workflow systems
- Implement observability, logging, alerting, and business metrics
- Contribute to platform tooling using full-code solutions and workflow automation platforms such as n8n
- Deliver clean, testable, production-ready code with documentation and operational guides
- Communicate technical concepts to engineering and non-engineering audiences
Requirements
- 2+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or C#
- Experience designing, building, and operating production-grade services, integrations, or automation systems
- Understanding of modern AI system fundamentals including RAG, agents, and LLM tools
- Practical knowledge of vector databases, similarity search, and retrieval optimization
- Familiarity with APIs, microservices, and event-driven architecture
- Strong focus on testing, observability, and backend performance
- Familiarity with low-code/no-code automation tools such as n8n, or willingness to learn
- Ability to balance rapid iteration with long-term maintainability
- Ability to work effectively with engineers and non-engineers
- May be required to obtain a gaming license issued by the appropriate state agency as a condition of employment
