About the role

  • Principal Engineer leading the development of web, mobile, and AI chatbot experiences for Lantern. Driving technical solutions and enhancing member interaction with healthcare services.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and end-to-end ownership of member-facing web, mobile, and AI chatbot experiences.
  • Define and maintain technical standards for front-end architecture, shared patterns, performance, accessibility, and long-term maintainability.
  • Drive a pragmatic strategy for reusable business logic, design consistency, and seamless experiences across web and mobile platforms where it adds value.
  • Partner closely with engineers working in .NET / C# and Microsoft Azure to deliver secure, reliable, observable, and scalable solutions.
  • Help shape AI-enabled chat and support capabilities that improve navigation, engagement, and service for Lantern members.
  • Act as a technical pillar for the engineering organization by mentoring engineers, leading design reviews, and guiding complex implementation decisions.

Requirements

  • Extensive years of professional software engineering experience, preferably with at least 2+ years operating at a Staff, Principal, or equivalent technical leadership level in product-focused environments.
  • Deep expertise in TypeScript, React, and modern front-end architecture, with the ability to operate effectively in environments that also include Angular.
  • Proven experience building and supporting production-grade applications using React Native.
  • Strong experience partnering with backend teams working in .NET / C# and building solutions that run on Microsoft Azure.
  • Hands-on familiarity with Tailwind CSS and/or NativeWind, reusable component patterns, and high-quality user experience implementation.
  • Experience building or integrating AI / LLM-powered product features such as chat, guided workflows, copilots, or search-driven experiences.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence across engineering, product, design, and business stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
