About the role

  • Lead QC Inspector responsible for ensuring compliance in Mechanical & Civil construction projects in Alberta. Mentoring junior inspectors and resolving quality-related issues on-site.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform Mechanical & Civil QC inspection activities with minimal supervision.
  • Ensure all Civil and Mechanical ITP stages are followed, verified, and properly documented.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, P&IDs, isometrics, structural drawings, and specifications accurately.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of applicable Civil & Mechanical codes, standards, and project specifications.
  • Conduct surveillance, witness points, and hold points as per QC plans and contractor schedules.
  • Monitor daily site activities to ensure compliance with approved procedures and quality requirements.
  • Identify, document, and report Non-Conformances (NCRs); follow up on corrective/preventive actions.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and construction teams to resolve quality-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Perform mechanical checks/tests such as dimensional inspections, fit-up and weld quality verification (if applicable), and civil tests including compaction, concrete placement, and rebar checks.
  • Maintain accurate and organized QC documentation, logs, checklists, and reports.
  • Ensure timely completion and submission of all inspection reports, test records, and related documentation.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior inspectors when required.

Requirements

  • Civil or Mechanical Degree/Diploma OR CCIL-certified technician.
  • Hands-on construction or industrial site experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Inspection procedures, tools, and test equipment.
  • Ability to interpret and apply Civil & Mechanical codes and standards.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office and digital QC documentation tools.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to site safety practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with contractors and project teams.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of performing under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous lead or senior QC experience is an asset and preferred.
