About the role

  • Treasury Analyst supporting hedge accounting, pricing models, derivatives, and collateral management. Helping EQ Bank manage funding, liquidity, interest rate, market, and pricing risks.

Responsibilities

  • Support Treasury’s hedge accounting activities
  • Develop new hedge accounting strategies in conjunction with the Accounting team
  • Develop hedge accounting models and work with the Analytics team for system migration
  • Support the trade desk by identifying assets or liabilities available for hedge accounting designations
  • Prepare initial hedge accounting documentation, investigate issues, and explain hedge accounting inefficiency
  • Support hedging activities related to compensation liabilities
  • Provide user support for pricing models for SFR and Commercial
  • Manage assumption review and update processes
  • Improve model documentation and reporting
  • Manage the ROE pricing application migration
  • Monitor derivative portfolio valuation and validate counterparties’ margin calls
  • Improve the margin call process, including automating data extraction
  • Manage Equitable Bank’s collateral process and interact with Concentra for collateral management
  • Manage internal and regulatory collateral reports
  • Prepare data for ALCO and Board reporting
  • Prepare quarter-end reports
  • Provide support on ad-hoc analysis
  • Perform data extraction, validation, and reporting supporting hedge accounting, derivative valuations, collateral management, asset pricing model maintenance, and Treasury projects
  • Work within Treasury, which manages funding, liquidity, interest rate, market, and pricing risks and partners with business and finance teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance engineering, math, computer science, or related field
  • At least 1 year of work experience related to financial models, preferably with development responsibility
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel VBA and SQL; prior coding experience would be an asset
  • CFA designation or candidate would be an asset
  • Understanding of accounting principles
  • Keen interest in financial markets with a strong desire/ability to learn new concepts
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities
  • Ability to function independently, be proactive in using internal and external resources to achieve results
  • Problem solver with sound judgement who likes to take initiative, accepts ownership and accountability on given assignments
