About the role

Responsibilities

  • Design fire protection systems in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Perform required hydraulic calculations and technical analyses.
  • Prepare fire protection plans and specifications.
  • Contribute to the preparation of studies, analyses, and technical reports.
  • Conduct site surveys and provide construction follow-up.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, structural, architectural).
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Provide technical support and issue project-appropriate recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and project timelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Engineering
  • Registered, in good standing, with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) as a Professional Engineer
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience specifically in fire protection, preferably in consulting engineering
  • Excellent knowledge of codes and standards such as the National Building Code (CNB/NBC), provincial fire prevention codes (CNPI), NFPA, CSA standards, FM Global, and other applicable regulations
  • Strong analytical skills, rigor, and ability to prioritize
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Proficiency in French (spoken and written).
