About the role
- Project Engineer for water and wastewater projects at EXP, coordinating design and managing project deliverables. Seeking proactive individuals with strong technical expertise.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support the design of watermain and sanitary sewer systems, including alignment, profile, and connection details.
- Prepare detailed design reports, drawings, and specifications in accordance with municipal and regulatory standards.
- Perform hydraulic modeling and analysis to support system design and optimization.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and manage project deliverables, timelines, and budgets.
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and reviews of shop drawings to ensure design intent and quality standards are met.
- Facilitate and lead meetings with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
- Support proposal development, including scope definition, technical input, and cost estimation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and environmental regulations.
- Provide technical guidance to junior staff and contribute to quality assurance processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in water resources modeling.
- Proficiency in industry-standard modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS 2D, HEC-HMS, SWMM, MIKE, Info Works ICM).
- Strong understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic principles, floodplain management, and stormwater systems.
- Experience with GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS) and data integration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility is preferred.
- Familiarity with provincial and federal water management regulations.
- Experience working with municipalities, conservation authorities, or government agencies.
- Experience with climate change impact assessments and resiliency planning.
- Knowledge of scripting or automation tools (Python, MATLAB) for model enhancement.
