Responsibilities
Design and develop mechanical and industrial process systems for projects in agri‑food, pharmaceutical and industrial environments, from the conceptual phase through commissioning.
Perform detailed technical design, ensure interdisciplinary coordination, and conduct verification of systems and processes in compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
Analyze, design and optimize industrial process layouts, including integration of equipment, utilities, instrumentation and controls.
Perform mass and energy balances, as well as technical and regulatory analyses (codes, standards and industry best practices).
Prepare and validate process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
Define technological requirements, perform equipment and instrument selection, and prepare associated technical specifications.
Participate in surveys of existing facilities, coordinate the development of drawings, and ensure integration of operational and field constraints.
Supervise the preparation of drawings, write technical, purchasing and installation specifications, and ensure the quality of deliverables.
Prepare technical and expert reports, including analyses, recommendations and proposed solutions for clients.
Prepare cost estimates, contribute to project planning, and provide technical follow‑up with stakeholders.
Review and approve shop drawings from vendors and contractors.
Ensure close collaboration and effective coordination between clients, internal teams, vendors and contractors.
Provide on‑site technical support during construction, delivery, qualification and commissioning phases.
Actively participate in equipment start‑up, troubleshooting, and validation of functionality and performance.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or another relevant discipline related to industrial, agri‑food or pharmaceutical processes.
Registered member in good standing with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
10+ years of relevant experience in engineering consulting, ideally in the agri‑food, pharmaceutical or sanitary process sectors.
Excellent knowledge of industry standards and practices (GMP, ISPE, ASME‑BPE, PIC/S, or equivalents).
Strong process design skills, with a high capacity for analysis, synthesis and understanding of complex concepts.
Excellent command of French, both written and spoken.
Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for occasional client site visits.
Excellent communication, collaboration and influencing skills to effectively mobilize multidisciplinary teams and internal and external stakeholders.
Strong orientation toward action, results and problem solving in dynamic and demanding environments, while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
