About the role

  • Professional Senior Engineering - Avionics System at Expleo in Montreal, QC focuses on avionics systems of business aircraft. Support development, testing, certification and production for state-of-the-art technology.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the development, testing, certification, production, and in‑service support of avionics systems for state‑of‑the‑art business aircraft.
  • Support the timely integration of systems such as AFCS; communications (VHF, HF, SATCOM, datalink); navigation (ADF, VOR, ILS, DME, TCAS, transponder, IRS, GPS, FMS, weather radar); displays (EFIS, EICAS, HUD, SVS); information, maintenance and recording systems (IMS, OMS, data loading, CVR, FDR, AHMS); etc., onto the aircraft.
  • Support the definition and management of overall system and subsystem requirements to ensure safety, certification and aircraft design objectives are met.
  • Work with system suppliers as well as other vendors and interfacing disciplines on the program to ensure the system is properly designed, integrates effectively with the aircraft, and meets certification requirements.
  • Observe or participate in certification tests, inspections and/or audits as required.
  • Review and approve compliance reports in accordance with approved certification plans.
  • Ensure the continuing airworthiness of the aircraft's avionics systems in accordance with applicable regulations, regulatory standards and guidance material.
  • Approve and recommend certification plans to obtain regulatory authority acceptance of means and methods of compliance and the required level of involvement.
  • Support the final assembly line and in‑service aircraft for any design‑related issues and ensure timely resolution.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of tools and processes, as needed, to enable the function to achieve organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • You hold a university degree in electrical, electronic, software or aerospace engineering, or equivalent.
  • Current or candidate DAD/DAR status is preferred.
  • You are familiar with and maintain working relationships with TCCA, EASA or the FAA.
  • You have knowledge of civil airworthiness regulations (FAR Part 25) applicable to avionics, as well as industry advisory material including RTCA and ARP documents, for TCCA, EASA and FAA avionics certification requirements.
  • You have extensive hands‑on experience with aircraft system design, test and certification requirements, including autopilot systems, communications, navigation (including FMS), indication and recording systems, onboard maintenance systems, etc.
  • You have knowledge and/or experience with Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) systems.
  • You are familiar with industry standards DO‑178, DO‑160, DO‑254, ARP4754 and ARP4761.
  • You have strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • You have excellent problem‑solving skills, work structuring and prioritization abilities.
  • You are able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • You are willing to travel.
