About the role

  • Canadian business immigration lawyer advising EY clients on work permits, visas, and permanent residence. Managing high-volume applications and cross-border employee mobility.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the delivery of challenging Canadian business immigration services
  • Contribute to developing solutions for diverse clients
  • Provide technical legal expertise and proactive, strategic business solutions
  • Prepare, review, and submit high-volume immigration applications
  • Make submissions to ports of entry, consulates, and visa posts worldwide
  • Manage client deliverables and expectations while executing competing priorities
  • Facilitate the legal movement of employees across borders for business travel
  • Manage law clerks and other client service team members
  • Implement best practices as an active member of the Canadian immigration practice
  • Contribute to business development
  • Help companies and employees manage global workforce relocation, including visas, work permits, and permanent residence status

Requirements

  • Law degree
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Canada
  • Minimum 1–5 years of Canadian business immigration experience, emphasizing temporary and permanent residence applications for high-volume engagements
  • Technical and procedural understanding of Canadian business immigration law, including LMIA and LMIA-exempt temporary work permits and permanent residence applications
  • Excellent managerial and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to provide technical legal expertise and proactive, strategic business solutions
  • Knowledge of Quebec immigration regulations is an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal French language skills; bilingualism in French and English is a definite asset
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to multitask and manage a variety of projects
  • High level of professionalism when handling sensitive and confidential information
