About the role

  • Senior Product Quality Control Specialist improving hardware reliability for Fortinet’s network security products. Reviewing designs, testing, manufacturing, and compliance with JDM/ODM partners.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate schematic designs and PCB layouts from ODM/JDM partners and identify potential design flaws
  • Review 3D mechanical structures and industrial housing designs
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize mechanical reliability and approve final mechanical designs
  • Scrutinize electrical, electronic, and mechanical Bills of Materials, focusing on critical components
  • Establish hardware and mechanical test schemes, define procedures and parameters, and audit test reports
  • Consult JDM/ODM engineering and production teams on assembly-line planning during mass production
  • Guide new products through regulatory certification processes and secure compliance documentation
  • Manage hardware and mechanical design documentation across all New Product Introduction (NPI) gates
  • Monitor competitor product designs and emerging technology trends to drive quality and reliability improvements
  • Coordinate external JDM/ODM engineering resources and internal Fortinet teams to meet product launch schedules

Requirements

  • 10+ years of direct hardware or mechanical design experience across the full product lifecycle, from concept to mass production
  • 3+ years of experience managing new product development, focused on product reliability and cross-functional execution
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Proven expertise in high-reliability industrial design for 5G/LTE routers, network switches, IP phones, and IP cameras is highly desirable
  • Profound knowledge of reliable hardware and mechanical engineering principles in standard and ruggedized industrial environments
  • Familiarity with synchronized hardware and mechanical co-design is an asset
  • Proven capacity to audit external JDM/ODM designs, provide technical recommendations, and make decisions on architecture and reliability
  • Deep familiarity with factory assembly processes, mass production quality testing, and production-line test criteria
  • Professional proficiency in EDA software, SolidWorks, and engineering simulation/modeling tools
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and coordination skills in English
  • Professional proficiency in Mandarin is an asset
