About the role

  • Data Migration Engineer at gaiia owning the technical execution of data migrations for telecom service providers. Focusing on transforming customer data from legacy systems into gaiia's platform.

Responsibilities

  • Explore legacy source systems to understand their structure, quality, and relationships.
  • Export source data across a range of access methods.
  • Transform exported data into gaiia's standard format.
  • Execute migrations end-to-end on the internal migration platform.
  • Build and reuse mappings, templates, and validation rules.
  • Contribute small engineering improvements to the migration tooling.
  • Diagnose and resolve data discrepancies during dry runs, UAT, and post-cutover.
  • Document mapping specs, transformation logic, and data anomalies.

Requirements

  • Experience (3-5+ years) in data engineering, data migration, ETL, or a similar hands-on data role.
  • Strong command of ETL fundamentals.
  • Hands-on data-manipulation fluency.
  • Experience extracting data from a variety of sources.
  • Proven ability to transform messy, poorly documented data into clean, structured output.
  • Solid grasp of data quality, validation, reconciliation, and cleansing techniques.
  • Familiarity with OSS/BSS, telecom, or billing/CRM data models.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript (Node).
  • A bias toward reusability and automation over one-off scripts.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data/Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
