About the role

  • Technical Lead Engineer for Embedded Software Development supporting GE Vernova’s BWRX-300 Small Module Reactor. Leading software engineering team and managing project delivery in a regulated industry.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the delivery of high-quality software for various proprietary systems and instrumentation and projects.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership of the Software Engineering team.
  • Lead periodic reviews with Project Managers and the broader Engineering team to ensure projects are progressing per defined scope and schedule.
  • Engage customers to define scope, review results, and discuss technical risks.
  • Provide support and direction of projects and initiatives to drive productivity through the most efficient use of Project Engineering tools.
  • Provide support and direction for development of system requirements, performance, and test specifications.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to and properly documented by the Applications Software Engineering team.
  • Support commercial teams in development of system technical descriptions and engineering estimates for budgetary/proposal purposes.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring for the Applications Software team; mentor others in the organization.
  • Maintain a broad awareness of the work being carried out within your group to ensure technical excellence, timely completion of work and reviews, appropriate use of resources, and responsiveness to customer/program needs.
  • Define roles and responsibilities for personnel within your assigned team.
  • Promote professional growth through timely performance feedback, coaching and counseling.
  • Effectively manage multiple priorities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical, computer or software engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in embedded C code, including building, testing, and debugging
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience performing independent, or preferably team based, system design or technical reviews including interfacing with requirements management, independent verification and validation
  • Significant technical knowledge of the GVH controls platform product line
  • Previous nuclear and/or other highly regulated industry experience
  • Knowledge of common computer languages and software development tools (Version control, IDE’s, Debuggers, etc).
  • Leadership experience in the delivery of complex embedded software products and systems
  • A good understanding of I&C Applications Software processes and policies and how to apply them to day-to-day work
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and ability to articulate clearly
  • Experience in interfacing with customers
