About the role

  • Systems Engineer contributing to mechanical systems design for BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor. Collaborating across engineering disciplines to meet technical and safety requirements in regulated environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform system design activities including system design specifications, FMEA evaluations, and support licensing activities
  • Perform oversight design activities including piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), logic diagrams, process flow calculations and diagrams, equipment sizing, detection/suppression system design documents
  • Manages product and systems requirements, specifications, and flow down
  • Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing
  • Conducts component and product integration
  • Plan / develop technical and management processes to improve both team and customer productivity
  • Liaise with customers, in partnership with engineering leadership and Project Management
  • Interface with cross-functional teams and departments necessary to complete assigned system design activities
  • Improve areas of project execution and department management through lean methodology and Design to Cost principles
  • Support development efforts for new products and new technology
  • Responsible to undertake the necessary corrective and preventive actions resulting from Quality noncompliance monitoring and audit programs

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or other relevant Engineering degree from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in an Engineering role regulated industry
  • Ability to effectively function in a dynamic design environment and manage the demands of multiple tasks and projects, while maintaining an uncompromised commitment to personal and nuclear safety principles
  • Master’s degree in an engineering or technical discipline (desired)
  • SRO license qualifications or plant experience desired
  • Strong Leadership skills
  • Knowledge of working within a regulated environment (nuclear)
  • Knowledge of quality standards and systems (e.g., NQA-1 and ISO 9000)
  • Experience and/or interest in nuclear power industry
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and cope under pressure
  • Rad waste experience preferred
