Systems Engineer contributing to mechanical systems design for BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor. Collaborating across engineering disciplines to meet technical and safety requirements in regulated environment.
Responsibilities
Perform system design activities including system design specifications, FMEA evaluations, and support licensing activities
Perform oversight design activities including piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), logic diagrams, process flow calculations and diagrams, equipment sizing, detection/suppression system design documents
Manages product and systems requirements, specifications, and flow down
Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing
Conducts component and product integration
Plan / develop technical and management processes to improve both team and customer productivity
Liaise with customers, in partnership with engineering leadership and Project Management
Interface with cross-functional teams and departments necessary to complete assigned system design activities
Improve areas of project execution and department management through lean methodology and Design to Cost principles
Support development efforts for new products and new technology
Responsible to undertake the necessary corrective and preventive actions resulting from Quality noncompliance monitoring and audit programs
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or other relevant Engineering degree from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 4 years of experience in an Engineering role regulated industry
Ability to effectively function in a dynamic design environment and manage the demands of multiple tasks and projects, while maintaining an uncompromised commitment to personal and nuclear safety principles
Master’s degree in an engineering or technical discipline (desired)
SRO license qualifications or plant experience desired
Strong Leadership skills
Knowledge of working within a regulated environment (nuclear)
Knowledge of quality standards and systems (e.g., NQA-1 and ISO 9000)
Experience and/or interest in nuclear power industry
Ability to work to tight deadlines and cope under pressure
Rad waste experience preferred
