Systems Engineer supporting design activities for the BWRX - 300 Small Modular Reactor at GE Vernova. Responsible for system design, validation, and cross - functional team collaboration in a regulated environment.
About the role
- Systems Engineer contributing to mechanical systems design for BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor. Collaborating across engineering disciplines to meet technical and safety requirements in regulated environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform system design activities including system design specifications, FMEA evaluations, and support licensing activities
- Perform oversight design activities including piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), logic diagrams, process flow calculations and diagrams, equipment sizing, detection/suppression system design documents
- Manages product and systems requirements, specifications, and flow down
- Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing
- Conducts component and product integration
- Plan / develop technical and management processes to improve both team and customer productivity
- Liaise with customers, in partnership with engineering leadership and Project Management
- Interface with cross-functional teams and departments necessary to complete assigned system design activities
- Improve areas of project execution and department management through lean methodology and Design to Cost principles
- Support development efforts for new products and new technology
- Responsible to undertake the necessary corrective and preventive actions resulting from Quality noncompliance monitoring and audit programs
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or other relevant Engineering degree from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in an Engineering role regulated industry
- Ability to effectively function in a dynamic design environment and manage the demands of multiple tasks and projects, while maintaining an uncompromised commitment to personal and nuclear safety principles
- Master’s degree in an engineering or technical discipline (desired)
- SRO license qualifications or plant experience desired
- Strong Leadership skills
- Knowledge of working within a regulated environment (nuclear)
- Knowledge of quality standards and systems (e.g., NQA-1 and ISO 9000)
- Experience and/or interest in nuclear power industry
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and cope under pressure
- Rad waste experience preferred
