SOC Specialist responsible for detecting and responding to security incidents at Genetec. Collaborating with teams to protect networks and systems from cyber threats.
Responsibilities
Handle incidents escalated by the triage team
Develop and maintain the SOC’s capability and agility to detect security breaches and potential intrusions across the company’s network, servers and workstations
Actively participate in implementing processes and tools used for incident response, data collection, log analysis, adversary emulation and hostile-environment testing, penetration testing, malware analysis, digital forensics, etc.
Support security incident response actions to ensure proper assessment, containment, mitigation and documentation
Provide initial analysis and identify indicators of compromise (IOCs), escalate to the appropriate operational units and participate in post-incident activities
Develop a detailed runbook (intervention guide) including tools, techniques and forensic methods for staff to use during investigations
Monitor security events, manage threats, perform threat modeling, identify threat vectors and develop use cases for security monitoring
Conduct real-time endpoint investigations, including identifying and collecting essential forensic artifacts, performing offline analysis and executing necessary remediation actions
Implement and enhance security event monitoring processes and tools in both Cloud and on-premises environments
Continuously monitor vulnerabilities as well as emerging threats and risks
Work directly with other internal teams to ensure timely patching and remediation and validate that fixes are effective
Perform security reviews and testing on production systems to validate resilience and identify weaknesses to be remediated
Recommend improvements to optimize preventive controls and security monitoring tools based on findings from threat hunting activities
Develop, maintain and document operational processes and incident response methods
Be part of a 24/7 (365 days per year) operational service team that handles incident response, post-breach remediation, escalations and conducts complex investigations as well as troubleshooting and root cause resolution of incidents
Requirements
3+ years of experience in a similar role
Proven expertise in incident response
Experience in forensic investigations on-premises and in the Cloud
Strong knowledge of DFIR (Digital Forensics and Incident Response) tools
Experience with security technologies and the NIST framework
Active interest in cybersecurity, incident detection, digital forensics, network security and Cloud security
Familiarity with cybercrime and cyberattacks, threat actor groups, motivations and techniques used
Knowledge of Cloud security best practices and of firewalls, load balancing, encryption, Active Directory, federated Active Directory and SAML
Strong experience in networking, systems monitoring and security within a Microsoft environment
Ability to work independently, take initiative, manage multiple tasks and thrive in a dynamic environment
Demonstrated experience analyzing and interpreting system, security and application logs to diagnose failures and detect abnormal behavior
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Self-motivated with a results-oriented approach to meet business requirements
