About the role
- Senior Software Engineer building reliable AI agents and automation systems for Magical’s healthcare platform. Owning backend services, workflow infrastructure, and production reliability.
Responsibilities
- Design and build backend and full-stack systems for AI agents and healthcare automations
- Set technical direction within a project or product area, especially when requirements are ambiguous
- Build features for automation creation, workflow pathways, testing, editing, and production run reporting
- Improve runtime reliability through run state management, queues, idempotency, error classification, alerts, and dashboards
- Own critical services from architecture through deployment, monitoring, and iteration
- Transform unstructured customer inputs such as SOPs, decision trees, portal behaviors, and edge cases into dependable automations
- Build systems that draft, test, and enhance workflows, catch failures, recommend edits, and identify when human intervention is needed
- Contribute to runtime reliability, workflow pathways, evaluations, and specialized agents for critical healthcare tasks
- Set technical direction, drive delivery, enhance team effectiveness, and mentor teammates
Requirements
- 5+ years of software development experience
- Experience building and owning backend systems deployed in production
- Ability to turn ambiguous product requirements into a clear technical plan
- Strong systems design skills, including distributed systems, databases, APIs, queues, asynchronous workflows, and observability
- Experience integrating AI tools into the development workflow and willingness to experiment with new approaches
- Experience with platform, infrastructure, or workflow systems at scale (preferred)
- Experience building agentic products or agent-based workflows (preferred)
- Experience integrating LLMs or AI models into production backend systems (preferred)
- Background in event-driven architectures, workflow engines, observability, or runtime reliability (preferred)
- Experience in healthcare operations or revenue cycle management (preferred)
