About the role
- Disability Management Specialist managing short- and long-term disability claims for GFL Environmental. Coordinating accommodations, return-to-work programs, training, and reporting across Canada.
Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle short-term and long-term disability claims
- Facilitate the disability application process by working with employees and direct managers to explain the process and gather assessment information
- Partner with external vendors to determine appropriate return-to-work goals
- Coordinate return-to-work meetings
- Support planning between employees and supervisors, intervening when necessary
- Develop and implement disability management training sessions
- Prepare statistical trend analysis
- Develop regional injury and trend reports
- Expedite monthly reports using graphs and charts
- Collaborate with vendors, operations teams, HR, and other stakeholders on early and safe return to work, accommodations, and modified duties
- Report to the Manager of Disability Management
Requirements
- 2–3 years of experience in an HR function, with exposure to disability management
- College Diploma or University Degree specializing in Human Resources, with an interest in Disability Management
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Self-starting and proactive
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Comprehensive knowledge of disability management, Occupational Health and Safety legislation, and the Employment Standards Act
- Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located
