About the role

  • Intermediate/mechanical engineer working for GHD, developing innovative HVAC design solutions and mentoring junior engineers in a multidisciplinary design team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the design of ventilation, heating and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems, stormwater, sanitary, and domestic water systems in accordance with applicable codes
  • Carry out a range of activities under the direction of more experienced colleagues to support the drafting of engineering standards and specifications
  • Participate in training, mentoring and supervision of engineers with less experience within the team
  • Manage, coordinate, and execute the design of building mechanical systems (HVAC)
  • Contribute to the analysis of information and the specification of methods and process steps
  • Contribute to client management on behalf of more senior commercial staff

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the design of:
  • - Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems (HVAC)
  • Knowledge of the design of ventilation systems and water systems: stormwater, sanitary, and domestic
  • Strong analytical skills with a clear attention to detail and a continuous commitment to quality
  • Ability to exercise prompt and informed judgment
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency and energy simulation
  • Proficiency with software such as HAP or Trane
  • Comfortable working with Revit and AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with: Quebec Construction Code, Chapters 1 and 3; National Building Code; ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers); National Plumbing Code
  • Initiative and a strong motivation to work and seek solutions
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and written and oral communication
  • Bilingualism (French and English)
