About the role

Intermediate/mechanical engineer working for GHD, developing innovative HVAC design solutions and mentoring junior engineers in a multidisciplinary design team.

Responsibilities

Perform the design of ventilation, heating and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems, stormwater, sanitary, and domestic water systems in accordance with applicable codes
Carry out a range of activities under the direction of more experienced colleagues to support the drafting of engineering standards and specifications
Participate in training, mentoring and supervision of engineers with less experience within the team
Manage, coordinate, and execute the design of building mechanical systems (HVAC)
Contribute to the analysis of information and the specification of methods and process steps
Contribute to client management on behalf of more senior commercial staff

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the design of:
- Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems (HVAC)
Knowledge of the design of ventilation systems and water systems: stormwater, sanitary, and domestic
Strong analytical skills with a clear attention to detail and a continuous commitment to quality
Ability to exercise prompt and informed judgment
Knowledge of energy efficiency and energy simulation
Proficiency with software such as HAP or Trane
Comfortable working with Revit and AutoCAD
Familiarity with: Quebec Construction Code, Chapters 1 and 3; National Building Code; ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers); National Plumbing Code
Initiative and a strong motivation to work and seek solutions
Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
Excellent interpersonal skills and written and oral communication
Bilingualism (French and English)
