About the role

  • Intermediate Engineer specializing in hydrology and hydraulics for hydropower plants at GHD. Responsible for analysis, design, and team collaboration in Montreal or Quebec areas.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct hydrological and hydraulic analyses for the design of hydraulic structures and dams;
  • Participate in dam design reviews from a hydrological perspective;
  • Perform dam-break simulations and analyses and prepare flood inundation maps;
  • Collaborate with and supervise junior engineers in hydrological analysis and hydraulic design;
  • Participate in the training and mentoring of junior staff;
  • Conduct site visits and prepare statutory inspection reports from a hydrological/hydraulic perspective;
  • Contribute to the preparation of drawings and specifications for the rehabilitation and construction of hydraulic infrastructure;
  • Demonstrate inclusiveness and openness in interactions with colleagues and business partners;
  • Work in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment;
  • Promote the hydrotechnical discipline to internal and external clients;

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, or another relevant discipline; a graduate (master’s) degree in hydraulics is an asset.
  • Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (or in the process of becoming a member);
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in the field;
  • Proficiency in French, both spoken and written;
  • Familiarity with water-related environmental issues and mining regulations;
  • Good knowledge of applicable calculation methods (hydrological and hydraulic assessments, floodplain analysis, river flow modeling);
  • Strong experience with modeling software (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, ArcGIS, Civil 3D, etc.); knowledge of CADAM 3D and MIKE 21 is an asset.
  • Project management experience (for the intermediate engineer);
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work effectively in a team;
  • Excellent ability to work in multidisciplinary teams;
  • Willingness to travel regionally for short periods (occasional site inspections and visits).
