About the role

  • Senior Environmental Scientist or Engineer joining the Contaminated Site Assessment and Remediation Teams in Atlantic Canada. Overseeing environmental projects and ensuring regulatory compliance with a focus on various assessments and remediation activities.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing, planning, and designing of environmental sampling and analysis work plans;
  • Completing of environmental risk assessments; Implementing and enforcing project specific health and safety plans on project sites;
  • Overseeing project teams performing complex Phase I to IV Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs);
  • Performing senior review and regulatory compliance oversight;
  • Technical report writing and proposal development for submission to provincial and federal regulatory authorities;
  • Create engineering drawings to support the communication, evaluation, and implementation of engineering solutions.
  • Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.
  • Supervising project teams completing field activities including monitoring/sampling, excavation, drilling and remedial activities; Procuring services and contract management; Supporting Project Managers and Business Groups on various environmental and industrial projects; Leading internal project teams for multi-media assessments of complex sites; Possessing strong project management, coordination and planning skills to meet client timelines and budget;
  • Use product specifications to design test procedures and standards.
  • Completing peer reviews, providing recommendations, and quality control/quality review of technical reports;
  • Supporting the growth of the environmental practice in Eastern Canada.
  • Interacting with clients, contractors, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies;

Requirements

  • An undergraduate or Graduate degree in Science or Engineering. P.Eng. or P.Geo. designation considered an asset.
  • A minimum of 8 years of environmental consulting experience completing ESAs and remediation projects.
  • Knowledge of Provincial and Federal environmental guidelines and regulations.
  • A comprehensive understanding and experience working with the New Brunswick framework and/or Atlantic Risk-Based Corrective Action (RBCA) process would be a great asset.
  • A comprehensive understanding and experience with Federal framework and/or FCSAP process would be a great asset.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle;
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments; meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed.
  • Excellent communication, mentoring and technical writing skills.
  • Bilingual in French and English are considered an asset.
  • Attention to detail. Ability to analyze and synthesize.
  • Available to manage, coordinate and/or work on sites throughout Atlantic Canada, or outside the Region, on occasion.
  • Site Professional status within Atlantic Canada is considered an asset.
