About the role

  • Technical Director overseeing teams on mining residue dam projects in Quebec region. Collaborating globally on planning, investigation, and design of residue storage facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for leading technical teams on projects ranging from small to large scale
  • Work within GHD’s broader global tailings and dams community on planning, investigation and design projects for tailings storage facilities (TSFs)
  • Share knowledge through training
  • Prepare proposals for selection of exploration drillhole locations
  • Design mining tailings dams, including foundations and embankment stability analyses
  • Lead geotechnical investigations
  • Develop client relationships nationally and internationally
  • Mentor and train other staff members

Requirements

  • University degree in engineering (civil or geotechnical)
  • Master’s degree in geotechnical engineering preferred
  • Hold a professional engineering licence (P.Eng.) and be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
  • Substantial experience (more than 16 years) in tailings and mining waste engineering, ideally in a consulting environment; relevant postgraduate qualifications are preferred
  • Bilingual in English and French
