About the role

  • Payroll, Benefits & HR Administrator at Gitxsan Development Corporation managing Canadian payroll, benefits, and HR administration duties remotely. Ensuring compliance with Canadian payroll legislation and supporting employee inquiries.

Responsibilities

  • Payroll Operations & Execution: Manage the full lifecycle of bi-weekly and monthly payroll execution.
  • Employee Self-Service & Offboarding: Manage the centralized payroll inbox and support employee inquiries.
  • Benefits & Pension Administration: Administer the ICBA group benefits plan and manage pension reporting and remittances.
  • Payroll Taxes, Remittances & Year-End Compliance: Calculate and submit monthly CRA source deductions and manage workers' compensation filings.
  • Accounting Integration & Systems Management: Maintain the GL integration interface and deliver payroll variance and GL reports.
  • HR Administrative Support: Assist with publishing job postings, scheduling interviews, and managing candidate communications.
  • Organizational Support & Special Projects: Provide administrative support to the HR Manager on departmental initiatives and community events.

Requirements

  • Certification: Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation (or active enrollment with imminent completion) is mandatory.
  • Experience: Minimum 3+ years of direct Canadian full-cycle payroll processing experience, and 3+ years of experience supporting HR administration and benefits programs.
  • Education: Post-secondary diploma or degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related discipline. Specific accounting coursework is a strong asset.
  • Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with UKG Pro (Payroll/HRIS) and Sage Intacct (or similar enterprise ERPs) is strongly preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft office, AirTable, Google Workspace, RBC Direct Banking, and ROE Web.
  • Knowledge & Expertise: Deep understanding of Canadian payroll legislation, Employment Standards Acts, CRA regulations, EHT, and provincial workers' compensation systems (BC and AB). Familiarity with Indigenous taxation protocols, Status Card processing, and TD1N filing requirements is highly advantageous.
