Responsibilities

  • Analyze bid documents
  • Prepare bids
  • Calculate necessary material quantities and estimate labor and equipment costs
  • Assess and present project risks and constraints to management
  • Evaluate and plan work methods to ensure proper execution of the works
  • Participate in strategic discussions during bid closing
  • Produce and ensure adherence to the project schedule
  • Participate in the management of awarded contracts
  • Manage costs and evaluate project profitability
  • Respond to technical requests from construction sites
  • Attend project meetings
  • Manage subcontractors and suppliers (price analysis, negotiation, coordination, ordering and follow-up)
  • Evaluate and negotiate changes or additions required for each contract
  • Prepare compensation and/or claims files
  • Perform any other duties related to your position

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or DEC in Civil Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Significant experience in estimating (3 to 5 years)
  • Computer skills: Windows environment, MS Project, MS Office suite (Word, Excel), AutoCAD, TPL (an asset)
  • Ability to read plans and specifications
  • Autonomy, resourcefulness and a strong sense of priorities
  • Organizational skills and a sense of responsibility
  • Problem-solving ability and capacity for quick, well-informed decision-making
  • Respect for deadlines; speed and efficiency
  • Professionalism and discretion
  • Spoken language: Advanced French
