About the role

  • Insolvency specialist handling consumer insolvency cases at Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton. Collaborating on legal representations and managing debtor assets in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of assigned cases, analyze them and ensure timely progress.
  • Demonstrate empathy, listen and put clients at ease by adapting your approach to their state of mind.
  • Appear in court to represent the office for discharge hearings and motions.
  • Monitor delinquent accounts and manage debtor discharges.
  • Manage assets to be realized/sold by the trustee.
  • Communicate and reach agreements with various stakeholders (creditors, lawyers, representatives of financial institutions).
  • Effectively lead, take charge of and oversee client meetings (case follow-ups and consultation phases).
  • Quickly establish trust and credibility with internal and external clients and with creditors.
  • Analyze and complete complex average monthly income calculations and reach agreements with debtors to establish payment obligations.
  • Know, comply with and apply administrative and ethical rules as well as the firm’s quality standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Law, or another relevant field.
  • Relevant experience in insolvency is an asset.
  • Practical ACPIR course on insolvency consultations (CPCI) and bankruptcy administration is an asset.
  • Excellent organizational skills: priority management, rigor, efficiency, analytical mindset, curiosity, agility and interpersonal flexibility.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: customer service, team spirit, autonomy, leadership and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage stress effectively.
  • Excellent command of French, both spoken and written.
  • Knowledge of the main areas of law related to insolvency (bankruptcy, security interests, municipal, family/matrimonial, tax and business law), including applicable laws and codes (BIA – Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act; Civil Code of Québec (C.c.Q.); Code of Civil Procedure (C.p.c.); etc.).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and ease in learning new software, with the ability to work comfortably in a computerized environment.
