About the role

  • Manufacturing Supervisor overseeing paperboard packaging production at Graphic Packaging International. Managing schedules, safety, quality, continuous improvement and employee training.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, improve and maintain all production activities
  • Lead process improvement projects throughout the facility
  • Coordinate and manage production planning, acquisitions, manufacturing and quality standards
  • Optimize production while meeting deadlines, costs, quality and health and safety requirements
  • Apply continuous improvement tools including 5S, Kaizen, SMED and TPM
  • Coordinate with Customer Service and Sales regarding incoming orders
  • Communicate with the Plant Manager and department managers about equipment and material needs
  • Resolve customer and sales scheduling issues
  • Ensure production schedules meet customer requirements
  • Maintain corporate goals for Safety, NLF, OTD, OEE, QSR fill rate and Working Capital
  • Coordinate new business endeavors
  • Coordinate with the Structural Designer and Estimator on packing specifications, layouts, design structure and production throughput
  • Develop employee training programs and ensure knowledge transfer
  • Identify risky situations and implement preventative steps
  • Support health and safety meetings, audits, accident investigations, safety talks and related action plans
  • Participate in SQF root-cause and corrective actions
  • Follow plant, hygiene, allergen and safe-quality-food procedures
  • Report potentially unsafe conditions and customer complaints to a person of authority

Requirements

  • BA degree or related work experience required in lieu of degree
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a folding carton plant, or equivalent experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lead and direct others
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and internet research skills
  • Experience with SAP is preferred
  • Must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally, including early mornings, nights and/or weekends
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods
  • Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Walking on plant floor
  • Reading computer screens or other electronic devices
  • Use of various office hand and electrical tools
  • Must adhere to SQF, HACCP, Food Safety, Food Defense, GMP and Health and Safety requirements
