Responsibilities
Provide leadership and day-to-day coordination for Corporate Spiritual Care Services across Oakville, Milton and Georgetown sites.
Deliver direct spiritual, emotional, religious, existential and grief support to patients, families, staff and volunteers.
Complete spiritual care assessments, develop plans of care, respond to referrals and document care in accordance with organizational policy.
Collaborate with interprofessional teams to support complex care planning, palliative and end-of-life care.
Build and sustain effective relationships with community faith leaders and cultural partners.
Requirements
Master’s degree in theology, divinity, spiritual care, counselling, psychotherapy or a related graduate-level discipline from an accredited institution.
Certification as a Spiritual Care Practitioner with the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care/Association canadienne de soins spirituels (CASC/ACSS), or demonstrated progress toward certification, is required.
Registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), or eligibility and active progress toward registration where required by scope of practice, is preferred.
Minimum of two years of relevant clinical spiritual care experience in an acute care, hospital, hospice, long-term care or comparable healthcare environment.
Advanced knowledge of spiritual care assessment, grief and bereavement support, end-of-life care, crisis intervention, ethical practice, therapeutic use of self and culturally responsive care.
