About the role
- Coordinator providing spiritual care leadership and support across three hospital sites in Ontario. Role includes assessments, direct support, collaboration, and community relationships.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and day-to-day coordination for Corporate Spiritual Care Services across Oakville, Milton and Georgetown sites.
- Deliver direct spiritual, emotional, religious, existential and grief support to patients, families, staff and volunteers.
- Complete spiritual care assessments, develop plans of care, respond to referrals and document care in accordance with organizational policy.
- Collaborate with interprofessional teams to support complex care planning, palliative and end-of-life care.
- Build and sustain effective relationships with community faith leaders and cultural partners.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in theology, divinity, spiritual care, counselling, psychotherapy or a related graduate-level discipline from an accredited institution.
- Certification as a Spiritual Care Practitioner with the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care/Association canadienne de soins spirituels (CASC/ACSS), or demonstrated progress toward certification, is required.
- Registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), or eligibility and active progress toward registration where required by scope of practice, is preferred.
- Minimum of two years of relevant clinical spiritual care experience in an acute care, hospital, hospice, long-term care or comparable healthcare environment.
- Advanced knowledge of spiritual care assessment, grief and bereavement support, end-of-life care, crisis intervention, ethical practice, therapeutic use of self and culturally responsive care.
