About the role

Senior backend engineer owning critical, high-throughput systems for Helius, a Solana developer platform. Driving architecture, optimization, reliability, and developer infrastructure at scale.

Responsibilities

Take ownership of a core Helius system: Gatekeeper, Data Streaming, Historical APIs, or Account Index
Design, build, and release performance-sensitive products for the Solana developer ecosystem
Optimize production systems through profiling and benchmarking to improve latency and throughput
Collaborate with staff engineers and founders on architectural and product decisions
Improve observability, incident response, and operational excellence
Mentor junior engineers and raise the technical bar across the team
Set technical direction and make architectural decisions shaping the platform
Own the assigned domain end-to-end

5+ years of backend engineering experience with a track record of shipping production systems at scale
Strong systems-level intuition
Proficiency in Rust, C++, or Go
Experience debugging and optimizing latency-sensitive or high-throughput systems
Ability to own problems end-to-end with minimal direction
Prior exposure to engineering cultures prioritizing operational excellence, reliability, and customer impact
Deep Rust experience in a production, performance-critical environment (nice to have)
Experience with distributed systems, storage engines, or streaming infrastructure (nice to have)
Familiarity with flamegraphs, perf, or valgrind (nice to have)
Interest in Solana, blockchain infrastructure, or real-time financial systems (nice to have)
On-call experience and operational ownership of production services (nice to have)
Mix of large and small company experience (strongly preferred)
