About the role

  • Software Engineer building and maintaining internal development tools for Homebase. Key contributor to platform infrastructure enhancing developer experience and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and improve internal developer tools that streamline engineering workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and deployments
  • Own the implementation of well-scoped features end-to-end—from writing the code to monitoring it in production
  • Identify and address friction points in the developer experience, using data and metrics to prioritize improvements
  • Contribute to the reliability and scalability of our AWS-based infrastructure within defined domains
  • Write clean, testable, maintainable code that upholds and advances Homebase engineering standards
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with platform, security, and product teams to understand requirements and make sure your work fits the broader picture
  • Actively participate in on-call rotations, helping identify and resolve infrastructure issues
  • Collaborate with teammates and begin influencing engineering decisions on your team
  • Use AI tools to drive personal effectiveness and improve your workflows

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in Software Development or Infrastructure Engineering—your roots are in writing software, and your infra experience grows from there
  • Strong development background in Ruby or Golang—you're comfortable writing production-quality code and building internal services in at least one of these languages
  • Hands-on experience building internal platforms or tooling that other systems rely on—you've treated it like a product, using data and feedback to drive what you build next
  • Genuine interest in developer experience: you think about the internal engineer as a customer and are energized by reducing friction for your teammates
  • Some hands-on experience with AWS or cloud infrastructure in production—you don't need to be an infrastructure expert, but you understand core concepts and can navigate cloud environments with confidence
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred) and containerized application deployment
  • Experience with CI/CD systems and an understanding of how software delivery pipelines work
  • Ability to use observability tools to identify, debug, and resolve issues in production
  • Ability to work across team boundaries with platform, security, and product teams—keeping the right people informed and your work rarely landing as a surprise
  • Strong sense of ownership—you deliver on commitments, monitor what you ship, and follow through on risks to timely delivery
  • Growth mindset: you integrate feedback, support teammates' development, and communicate effectively.

Benefits

  • Ownership & Financial Security: Stock options + 401(k) with 4% match
  • Comprehensive Healthcare: Medical, dental, and vision coverage + FSA options
  • Paid Time Off: Flexible PTO + company holidays + designated focus periods
  • AI access, for real: We invest in builders and believe that curiosity shouldn't have a paywall. That means you'll have access to paid AI tools with minimal restrictions, so you can build, experiment, and level up your craft.
  • Family Support: Up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave (after 6 months of service)
  • Protection Plans: Life insurance + short/long-term disability coverage
  • Work Your Way: Work From Anywhere Month + meeting-free weeks yearly
  • Workspace Perks: Meals provided, commuter benefits, team offsites, and Customer Days
  • Our Hybrid Rhythm: We believe collaboration drives impact. That’s why Tuesday and Wednesday are our required in-office days— a time to move faster as a team, build deeper connections, make better decisions, and build together.
