Principal Product Manager for HTS API Marketplace at Hopper, facilitating travel services integration and product development. Collaborating with multiple teams to drive marketplace success.
Responsibilities
Define the HTS API marketplace: structure, package, and price the capabilities of a portfolio including HTS Connect, search polygons, autocomplete, ranking, content and property mapping, room mapping, deduplication/bidding, pricing, the extranet, taxes, and the custom deals engine.
Coordinate with capability PMs: understand roadmaps, constraints, and customization possibilities of the underlying technical systems, and translate them into externally consumable API products.
Manage the business model: decide between platform fees and variable fees, define the commission structure (take rate) per capability, enterprise packaging, and the framework for custom agreements with large partners.
Build the developer and partner experience from scratch: API specifications, partner integration flows, documentation standards, sandbox environments, and integration tools that minimize time-to-value.
Use AI and rapid prototyping: test ideas quickly (API response simulations, partner portal prototypes) before committing engineering resources.
Establish the go-to-market (GTM) strategy: identify the right partners, sequence launches, and define commercial success criteria.
Manage the marketplace P&L: model and track gross booking volume (GBV), commission rate, and unit economics per capability in partnership with the finance team.
Prioritize development milestones: from work in progress (HTS Connect, Taxes) to products in scoping (Mapping, Bidding) to future capabilities (Search Polygons, Ranking, Extranet).
Requirements
7+ years of product management experience, with at least one product built from 0 to 1 (concept to commercial launch).
Proven experience building B2B products or developer-focused marketplaces, including API product design and commercial packaging for enterprise customers.
AI-first working approach: you use LLMs and low-code/intent-driven programming as frontline tools for prototyping. You have built demos or functional proofs of concept (PoCs) using AI.
Strong understanding of marketplace economics: commissions, supply-side incentives, demand-side optimization, and variable vs. platform business models.
Cross-team coordination skills: synthesize roadmaps and ensure alignment without directly managing the underlying engineering.
Experience with external enterprise partners: translate business needs into product requirements and manage expectations during multi-phase rollouts.
Proficiency in SQL and large-scale transactional datasets.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clear API and product documentation.
