About the role
- Database reliability engineer testing InfluxDB Enterprise 3 for correctness, stability, and performance. Building automated reliability workflows for distributed workloads and production readiness.
Responsibilities
- Own and execute automated reliability, regression, and correctness test workflows within the CI/CD pipeline
- Implement and maintain repeatable test contracts validating query accuracy, product lifecycle, database compactions, and recoverability
- Simulate real-world customer workloads, database restarts, memory exhaustion, and deployments for exhaustive reliability testing
- Collaborate with core developers to convert engineering specifications and customer root-cause analyses into formal, repeatable test constraints
- Investigate complex performance data variations and capture system profiles
- Identify architectural bottlenecks before production deployment
- Participate in an on-call rotation when needed
- Develop and review automated reports flagging query latency regressions, data divergence bugs, and resource starvation issues to engineering stakeholders
Requirements
- Deep hands-on experience developing using Rust, or desire to learn Rust with system experience in C++ or Golang
- Proven track record in performance, regression, and reliability validation frameworks
- Ability to establish repeatable baselines for distributed data systems
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree
- 5 years of work experience
- Comfort using modern AI assistants and tools such as Claude
- Competency with Docker and Kubernetes
- Competency with CI utilities such as CircleCI
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work asynchronously
