About the role
- Senior Data Scientist leading experimentation, metrics, and scale-up for Instacart’s Meals initiative. Driving engagement, activation, and reactivation for the grocery-delivery platform.
Responsibilities
- Lead data science for the Meals initiative, owning post-MVP scale-up of data science systems and infrastructure
- Design, build, and maintain metric-tracking frameworks for engagement, activation, and reactivation
- Drive experimentation strategy from hypothesis definition through analysis and recommendation
- Partner with Product Managers, Engineers, and Designers to align strategy and communicate data-driven insights
- Contribute to a 0→1 initiative and help define success at scale
Requirements
- Proven experience in consumer-facing product data science, partnering with Product Managers, Engineering Leads, and Data Engineers
- Strong foundation in product and data analysis, A/B experimentation, causal inference, and statistical modeling
- Experience defining KPIs and optimizing funnels for product-market fit
- Excellent communication skills with senior business and engineering stakeholders
- 4+ years of work experience in data science or a related field
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering) or equivalent practical experience
- Preferred: experience bridging offline evaluation metrics with online experiments and business outcomes
- Preferred: causal inference beyond standard A/B tests
- Preferred: improving logging, instrumentation, and metric definitions in complex data environments
- Preferred: launching new features in new markets or launching 0-1 initiatives
