About the role

  • Data Scientist II responsible for developing innovative AI solutions and supporting data-driven strategies at Intact. Collaborating across departments to enhance data insights and recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Innovative Solutions: Utilize machine learning and advanced statistical methods to identify trends and patterns in complex datasets.
  • Data Transformation: Convert complex datasets into actionable insights and recommendations that can drive business strategy.
  • Stay Current: Keep up with the latest trends and methodologies in AI, analyzing metrics from usage of AI tools, transforming them into valuable insights, and maintaining dashboard to track those insights over time.
  • Tool and Platform Maintenance: Assist in maintaining and improving our data mining tools and platforms to ensure their efficiency and reliability.
  • Actionable Recommendations: Make strategic recommendations based on data analysis to support decision-making processes.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to promote the adoption of data-driven decision-making across the organization.
  • Quality Assurance: Validate the quality of analytical approaches and outputs produced by other team members and departments to ensure high standards.

Requirements

  • Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. mathematics, engineering, operations research, statistics, geomatics, AI), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in advanced statistics, data mining, and text mining.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in multiple platforms, including commercial and open-source data mining frameworks such as Python and GitHub.
  • Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) - integrating with APIs and evaluation techniques.
  • Machine Learning Expertise: Deep understanding of machine learning theories and methodologies.
  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English speaking colleagues across the country.
