About the role

Senior Data Scientist designing and developing AI solutions for real business cases at Intact. Leading projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve technical excellence.

Responsibilities

Design and develop end-to-end AI solutions to tackle real business cases.
Lead AI projects from exploration, implementation, testing to monitoring phases.
Transform complex and unstructured data into actionable insights and outcomes.
Work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into technical solutions.
Collaborate with data scientists, business SMEs, developers, designers, in a cross-functional team to build AI solutions in AWS.
Act as a technical lead to provide oversight and expert insights to research and data science teams.
Use analytics to understand software usage patterns and give recommendations on opportunities, risks, and improvements.
Coach and mentor junior members of the team.
Design, enforce, and lead compliance with data science best practices: coding, peer-review, strategy and approach selection, experimentation, testing and monitoring.

Hold an educational degree in data science, engineering, or a related field, or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
At least 5 years of experience in data science applications and product development, with a strong focus on NLP and machine learning.
Strong communication, leadership and AI project management skills.
Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) - integrating with APIs and evaluation techniques.
Experience with developing, deploying, and maintaining software in cloud environments (strong preference for AWS).
Multi-platform production experience with the following: Python, GitHub, AWS, and CI/CD tools.
Expert-level understanding of the underlying theory of machine learning.
Can focus on vaguely defined issues requiring the application of a creative approach.
Ability to collaborate with others and to coach junior members of staff.
Enthusiasm for teamwork and ability to communicate with colleagues of diverse backgrounds.
Bilingualism (English-French), For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
