About the role

  • Manager of Front-End Engineering leading web development team for Jobber's web services. Overseeing technical execution, team development, and platform migration while ensuring quality and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the web development team as the primary technical partner to the Website Product Owner
  • Own technical execution and team development; while the Product Owner leads customer experience strategy and roadmap prioritization
  • Work closely with a design team to ensure that web experiences are delivered on time
  • Invest in your people by holding regular 1:1s, setting clear individual goals, and providing coaching and constructive feedback that drives both team performance and each person's career growth
  • Establish standards for high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code, creating an environment where people are set up to do their best work
  • Actively identify, evaluate, and roll out AI tools in day-to-day work, encouraging team experimentation
  • Provide mentorship and coaching, understanding each team member's strengths and career direction
  • Plan projects, contribute code, and help set the technical bar for quality, performance, and maintainability
  • Play an active role in the ongoing migration from WordPress to a headless Sanity CMS, managing the work of an external development agency
  • Establish engineering processes and documentation practices that enable reliable delivery and reduce friction over time
  • Build tight working relationships with web designers, translating priorities into sound technical plans and managing capacities
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, IT, and Product Engineering to support web initiatives across the business

Requirements

  • Proven front-end engineering experience with proficiency in React, Next.js, and TypeScript
  • Hands-on WordPress experience — theme and plugin architecture, custom development, and CMS content workflows
  • Experience with Sanity CMS or a comparable headless CMS
  • Strong back-end foundations and systems knowledge — enough to make sound architectural decisions and evaluate full-stack work
  • Experience managing or directing external development agencies or vendors, including quality review and standards-setting
  • Demonstrated experience leading and growing an engineering team, with a track record of coaching engineers at different career stages
  • Enough project management fluency to be a strong partner to a dedicated PM — including providing reliable effort estimates, identifying technical dependencies, and flagging delivery risk early
  • Experience introducing and scaling AI tooling within an engineering team — including tool evaluation, prompt engineering best practices, and responsible adoption
  • Comfort leading in and helping others adapt to an agile environment
  • Strong communication skills and comfort translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and marketing leadership.

Benefits

  • equity rewards
  • annual stipends for health and wellness
  • retirement savings matching
  • extended health package with fully paid premiums for body and mind
  • access to a dedicated talent development program including career coaching and opportunities for career development
