About the role

  • Estimator leading estimating and pre-construction processes for KWH Constructors. Focused on structural steel projects in Canada with a commitment to safety and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the estimating and pre-construction process on projects in Canada.
  • Responsible for all aspects of estimating and pre-construction process for projects including pre-estimate meetings, site visits, kick off meetings, and estimate archiving.
  • Conduct a detailed analysis of the contract documents and specifications, to determine overall project requirements and identify any associated risks.
  • Complete a full quantity take-off of all labor, equipment, and materials required to complete the project as per contract drawing and specifications.
  • Works autonomously and provides leadership, coaching and mentoring to maximize efficiency and productivity of those working with you on estimates.
  • Ensure project and Company safety standards and environmental programs are adhered to within estimates.
  • Manage the post-estimate / pre-construction efforts on estimated projects until completing an internal hand-over to Operations.
  • Maintain current contacts, and development new contacts, in the construction industry with a view to sourcing new steel erection opportunities in British Columbia and other Canadian markets.
  • Be an ambassador of the Company both internally and externally while liaising with Clients, Owners, and Unions.
  • Mentor, coach, and supervise Field Engineers / Engineers In Training and junior Estimators.
  • Proactively seek new business opportunities through relationships.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of construction estimating experience, preferably including structural steel installation, including leading estimates of $1-10MM.
  • Steel Bridge and Industrial construction experience is advantageous.
  • Degree in Civil or Construction Engineering is advantageous, but not required.
  • Structural Steel erection experience is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills for internal and external clients (oral, written, and presentations).
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
