About the role

  • Lead avionics systems engineering, focusing on design and development for military and commercial aircraft. Oversee integration, testing, and compliance with airworthiness regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, integration, and testing of complex avionics systems for military and commercial aircraft
  • Translate customer requirements into system-level specifications
  • Oversee subcontractor deliverables and perform advanced engineering trade studies
  • Review and approve electrical wiring diagrams
  • Ensure compliance with airworthiness regulations
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations to non-technical audiences and government customers
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Lead technical planning, system integration, verification and validation for avionics systems across their lifecycle
  • Develop and implement software and system test plans in a collaborative environment

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Avionics or Systems Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant avionics systems experience
  • Extensive experience with military avionics systems, sensors, radio-navigation, and inter-communication systems
  • Knowledge of airworthiness regulations (FAR23/FAR25) and standards (ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, DO-178, DO-254)
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Experience with optical sensor systems, integration, and ground/flight test support
  • Knowledge of CATIA V5 and ePlan P8 is an asset
  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC 15288:2008 is a major asset
  • Knowledge of MBSE SysML is a major asset
