About the role
- Lead avionics systems engineering, focusing on design and development for military and commercial aircraft. Oversee integration, testing, and compliance with airworthiness regulations.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, integration, and testing of complex avionics systems for military and commercial aircraft
- Translate customer requirements into system-level specifications
- Oversee subcontractor deliverables and perform advanced engineering trade studies
- Review and approve electrical wiring diagrams
- Ensure compliance with airworthiness regulations
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations to non-technical audiences and government customers
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Lead technical planning, system integration, verification and validation for avionics systems across their lifecycle
- Develop and implement software and system test plans in a collaborative environment
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Avionics or Systems Engineering (or equivalent)
- Minimum 7 years of relevant avionics systems experience
- Extensive experience with military avionics systems, sensors, radio-navigation, and inter-communication systems
- Knowledge of airworthiness regulations (FAR23/FAR25) and standards (ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, DO-178, DO-254)
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Experience with optical sensor systems, integration, and ground/flight test support
- Knowledge of CATIA V5 and ePlan P8 is an asset
- Knowledge of ISO/IEC 15288:2008 is a major asset
- Knowledge of MBSE SysML is a major asset
