About the role

  • Grants Specialist assisting with fundraising and grant writing initiatives for an educational nonprofit. Collaborating with teams to manage grants and engage supporters effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Progress LDS’ mission by assisting with and executing advancement and grant writing initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director and others to achieve fundraising goals through grant writing and expanding supporter relationships.
  • Research and identify grant opportunities, draft grant proposals, and lead all aspects of the grant application, stewardship, follow up, deliverables monitoring, and reporting processes, including budgets and financial reporting.
  • Coordinate timelines, deadlines, and processes for applications and reports and effectively collaborate with communications, finance, and leadership on various needs.
  • Conduct research on foundations, government programs, and potential funding partners.
  • Draft internal fundraising reports using quantitative and qualitative metrics.
  • Coordinate, implement and manage data related to fundraising campaigns, events, and donor drives.
  • Support CRM management and updating.
  • Utilize data and metrics to evaluate and enhance the success of fundraising strategies.
  • Listen and engage with supporters to nurture a community of shared purpose.
  • Draft and distribute quarterly impact reports and other messaging for supporters.
  • Maximize our tailored outreach to supporters and grow our community of supporters.
  • Ensure timely and personalized recognition of and gratitude to all supporters.
  • Attend social and networking events with leadership team members.
  • Conduct research to identify new prospective supporters that align with LDS’ mission.

Requirements

  • University degree in a relevant field (e.g., public relations, communications, business, marketing) or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years related experience in fundraising, or a related role within the charitable sector
  • Proven experience and success with grant writing and reporting
  • Experience managing fundraising campaigns, supporter communications, and events
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; proficiency in Canva an asset.
  • Knowledge of supporter databases (e.g., Keela or similar)
  • Eligibility to work in Canada
  • Criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening
  • CRFE certification (or on certification track), AFP membership is considered an asset but not required.
