Responsibilities
- Lead our Network Operations team through infrastructure modernization initiative
- Shape careers of network and software engineers, creating high-performance culture
- Lead transformation from physical data centers to cloud-native network architecture
- Champion automation using Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices
- Own strategic roadmap for right-sizing physical POP footprint
- Design network solutions that are secure and scalable
- Bring hands-on expertise with Cisco switches, Palo Alto firewalls, and data center infrastructure
- Architect and optimize AWS cloud networking
- Protect 99.999% uptime through proactive monitoring and sharp incident response
- Manage Marqeta's corporate network infrastructure
Requirements
- 7+ years of network engineering experience in production environments and at least 3 years leading and developing technical teams
- Hands-on Cisco expert — deeply comfortable with switching platforms and routing protocols like BGP and OSPF
- Experience architecting and managing Palo Alto Networks firewall deployments
- Deep, practical knowledge of AWS cloud networking — VPCs, Transit Gateways, Direct Connect, CloudFront, Route53
- Track record of owning and maintaining high-availability networks at 99.9%+ uptime
- Experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices
- Strong foundation in network automation, scripting, and DevOps practices
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent expertise through hands-on experience
