About the role

  • Senior Data Engineer at Sleep Country Canada designing and maintaining scalable data pipelines. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure data reliability and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build scalable data pipelines and data integration processes to support reporting and analytics across business domains
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, and reliability through validation, monitoring, and issue resolution processes
  • Support Business Intelligence and reporting teams by delivering clean, well-structured, and accessible datasets
  • Optimize data performance, storage, and processing to support scalable and efficient data operations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (BI, Digital, Finance, Supply Chain, Operations) to translate business requirements into data solutions
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior data engineers and contribute to development standards and best practices
  • Monitor and support production data pipelines, troubleshoot issues, and ensure timely resolution of data incidents

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Data, or related field
  • 6 to 8 years’ experience working in data engineering, data platforms, or analytics environments.
  • Strong experience with SQL and data transformation logic.
  • Proficiency in Python or similar programming language.
  • Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Azure preferred; GCP considered an asset).
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling.
  • Experience working with retail or transactional data environments.
  • Ability to work with large datasets and optimize performance.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to explain data concepts clearly
