About the role

  • Legal Assistant supporting litigation at McCarthy Tétrault with minimum 3 years experience. Bilingual communication in French and English is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, edit, format, print, scan and review correspondence, memoranda, litigation documents, reports and any documents produced by dictation, typing or otherwise
  • Assist lawyers in preparing and coordinating hearings and trials
  • Manage matters by opening new files and maintaining effective organization
  • Coordinate lawyers’ travel arrangements
  • Assist with the preparation and closing of time entries in accordance with firm standards

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the legal field, with litigation experience
  • Bilingual (French and English), both spoken and written
  • In-depth knowledge of legal terminology and court rules and procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent word processing, spelling, proofreading and editing skills
  • Ability to complete tasks quickly and accurately
  • Excellent time-management skills to meet tight deadlines; organizational flexibility and the ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to manage files and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Highest level of discretion and confidentiality
  • Flexibility to work overtime when required
