About the role

  • Data Scientist focused on advanced analytics and machine learning algorithms to combat fraud for a health solutions partner. Collaborating with teams to interpret complex data and improve fraud detection models.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement advanced analytics techniques, including machine learning algorithms and predictive models, to assess fraud risk
  • Combine, interpret, and analyze highly complex data from multiple sources to uncover patterns, anomalies, and risk indicators
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, Data Analysts, and cross‑functional partners to understand requirements, validate models, and support decision-making
  • Continuously improve processes, algorithms, and models based on operational changes, investigator feedback, and emerging fraud trends
  • Monitor for new fraud risks and build or update models to stay ahead of evolving threats
  • Maintain thorough documentation for workflows, models, algorithms, databases, and code repositories
  • Ensure compliance with privacy, security, and data protection standards.

Requirements

  • Education or equivalent experience in data science, analytics, statistics, engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive experience applying data science and machine learning in real-world environments
  • Background working with federal contracts or government-regulated datasets is considered a significant advantage
  • Proficiency in Python or R, SQL, Git/GitHub, and data visualization tools such as Power BI, or willingness to learn
  • Professional certifications in data science or programming (Microsoft, Google, IBM, etc.) are considered an asset
  • Strong communication skills—able to present complex information clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences
  • A highly analytical mindset with the ability to independently interpret data, identify relationships, and draw meaningful conclusions
  • Curiosity and a drive to continuously learn and adapt
  • Strong time‑management skills with the ability to prioritize, organize, and act with appropriate urgency
  • Collaborative mindset and strong relationship‑building skills
  • English fluency; French is considered an asset.
