About the role
- Senior Software Engineer building full-stack card experiences and money-movement systems at fintech company Mercury. Leading architecture, launches, reliability, and engineering quality across Mercury's Cards Integration team.
Responsibilities
- Lead projects from idea to technical specification, implementation, and launch
- Learn and apply knowledge of authorization, clearing, settlement, and disputes
- Build features across the stack, from customer-facing card experiences to backend money-movement systems
- Help maintain excellent operations and observability
- Mentor engineers and improve engineering quality through design reviews, code reviews, and collaboration
- Work with product, design, operations, risk, compliance, sales, and other teams
Requirements
- Strong full-stack experience, a product mindset, systems thinking, and a knack for getting things across the line
- Experience making architectural decisions on complex systems and explaining reasoning and trade-offs
- Care about correctness in systems where failure has real financial consequences
- Clear communication, ability to handle ambiguity, and interest in mentoring others
- Comfortable with Haskell and TypeScript or ready to learn
- Bonus: experience in fintech, payments, or card issuing
