About the role
- Safety Coordinator providing on-site safety leadership for Shermco's Saskatchewan Operations. Support commissioning, maintenance, and construction projects, ensuring compliance and driving continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Provide on-site safety supervision, coordination, and guidance to commissioning, maintenance, and construction crews, supervisors, and team members
- Coach and mentor employees to support both individual and team performance improvement
- Promote leadership, accountability, and a positive safety culture
- Perform field audits and inspections to meet internal and external KPIs
- Conduct job site safety compliance inspections, including hazard analysis, safe work procedures, reporting, and recommendations
- Observe equipment, tools, and site conditions to identify hazards and report concerns to leadership
- Act as a key safety resource for employees, supporting audits, inspections, and investigations
- Ensure ongoing compliance with required safety training and certifications
- Conduct thorough incident investigations, including root cause analysis, reporting, and follow-up actions
- Support resolution of claims and contribute to liability and causation assessments
- Provide safety documentation and reporting to customers as required
- Stay current on Occupational Health & Safety legislation and regulatory changes across jurisdictions
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field (preferred)
- Professional safety designation (e.g., NCSO, CRSP) is an asset
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites
- 5+ years of safety experience in construction, industrial, maintenance, or electrical environments
- Strong knowledge of Saskatchewan and Canadian OHS regulations
- Proven ability to lead, influence, and coach teams
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations
